Thermoplastics
Thermoplastics are plastics that melt to a liquid when heated and freezes to a brittle,
very glassy state when cooled sufficiently. Thermoplastic polymers differ from thermosetting materials
(Phenolics, BMC’s) as they can, unlike thermosetting polymers, be remelted and remolded. The difference between thermoplastics and thermosets are that thermoplastics become soft, remoldable and weldable when heat is added. Thermosetting plastics will chemically change when heated so they can not be welded or remolded, however, once a thermoset is cured it tends to be stronger than a thermoplastic.
