Bulk Molding Compounds

Bulk Molding Compounds (BMC's ) are a pre-mixed blend of thermosetting resins, fillers, and fiber reinforcements. These materials create a 'puttylike' compound that when molded undergo an irreversible crosslinking process, converting it to an infusible, solid state. BMC is used in applications where close dimensional control, flame and track resistance, high dielectric strength, corrosion and stain resistance, superior mechanical properties, low shrink, and color stability are required. In addition to its heat, stain and chemical resistance BMC is both injection and compression moldable in a wide variety of colors, and can tolerate powdercoat or water-based paint. BMC is often used as an alternative to metals in automotive, lighting, defense, electrical, aerospace, medical, and appliance.
